Kerry Blue Terriers were first exhibited in 1913 in Dublin, they were then known as Blue Terriers, later in 1920 when the Breed Standard was being formulated, the Colour was such an integral feature of the breed that it was included in the name, The Kerry Blue Terrier and that has never changed, nor should it be.

The Breed Standard is very clear on what is required for judging Coats in the breed: Soft, silky, plentiful and wavy, Blue of any shade with or without black points. Black is permissible only up to the age of 18 months, as is also a shade of tan. This is the Standard set by the Irish Kennel Club, the home of the breed, The FCI. The Kennel Club London, and the American Kennel Club.

Any Judge who accepts to award Championship Points for Kerry Blue Terriers signs a Contract with the Governing Body to  Judge the Breed Standard as set down.

SOBRE EL MANTO Y EL COLOR

La primera vez que se exhibieron Kerry Blue Terriers en Dublín fue en 1913, entonces se les conocía como los Terriers Azules, posteriormente en 1920 cuando se formuló el estándar de la raza, el color era una característica tan integral para la raza que se incluyó en su "Nombre". El Kerry BLUE Terrier y eso nunca ha cambiado, ni deberá cambiarse.

El estándar es muy claro en lo que se le requiere al manto de la raza para ser juzgado:  Suave, sedoso, abundante y ondulado, azul en cualquiera de sus tonalidades con o sin puntos negros. El negro es admitido solo hasta los 18 meses, como también lo está un tono marrón. Este es el estándar establecido por el Kennel Club Irlandés, el hogar natal de la raza por  la F.C.I., El Kennel Club Inglés y el American Kennel Club.

Cualquier juez que acepte premiar un Punto de Campeonato para la raza Kerry Blue Terrier firma un contrato con el Consejo de Administración para poder juzgar el Estandar de la Raza así como está establecido.
